If you’re unable to join us as an Eco Diver you can still support marine conservation by doing your on line shopping via our link. There’s no extra cost and it helps to fund subsidised places for divers assisting with marine conservation projects.

SILMAR ProjectParticipation in Eco Dive Volunteer activities only requires that you are qualified to Open Water diver or equivalent. New to SCUBA? No problem! You can learn to dive and gain the internationally recognised PADI Open Water certificate with Kenna Eco Diving, and then receive practical training in marine research techniques in order to assist with the collection of data on important Mediterranean coastal ecosystems.

This is Ariadna - relaxing on the beach following a conservation dive in May 09. She is our Catalan contact for the SILMAR Project which is mapping coastal habitats and key species around the Iberian peninsular. We are voluntary coordinators for the L’Escala  SILMAR research area in addition to carrying out our own marine conservation work.

Marine biology students gain valuable fieldwork experience by taking part in marine conservation surveys, and may also carry out independent marine research projects from the volunteer accommodation with  logistical support.

Students may be able to secure funding from their Universities to offset the subsidised volunteer costs.

Eco Dive volunteering provides an ideal opportunity for marine biology, gap-year students or anyone keen to take part in marine conservation activities to enjoy free warm water scuba diving whilst gaining an insight into the world of marine ecology.
